Frozen cacti details

Originally created as part of Global Freezing installation, but developed later into as separate group of sculptures. My choice of the cactus in this particular context is based on stereotypical qualities of this tropical plant growing in areas never exposed to ice and at the same time a very typical “easy to keep” house plant something that almost everyone has.

The distinctive natural appearance of the cactus is a result of adaption to conserve water in dry and/or hot environments. They are firm, have colore and content - my cacti, in contrast, are fragile, transparent and empty.

The glass plants are deliberately broken like cracking pieces of ice.

They planted in concreet-dead substans in which nothing is growing, at the same time it is the greatest building material of 20th century. Dead and fruitile at the same time.
