In this work “Black ice” i explore the limitations of human possibilities and the link between beauty and danger. “I am referring to the limited possibility for getting ‘an image in itself,’ since the reflective surface is uneven and its reflections are distorted. The mystery and attraction of an unevenly glinting mirror combines with its deformed reflection of the surrounding world. We get a sense of the danger of the work’s destruction and the physical fear of potential pain inflicted by the sharp ice shards of glass. Black ice is like a silent television screen; its reflections lack concreteness and color; all that is left is form and no more than a hint of reality.”

Works are part of the "Ice Laboratory" - the first exhibition from the series of art&science projects uniting the ideas of contemporary artists, glaciologists, oceanologists and anthropologists.

The Exhibition was part of paralel program of the Fifth Moscow Biennale of contemporary art in December 2013 for the art&science exhibition ICE LABORATORY shown in LABORATORIA Art&Science space.Moscow -the first nonprofit research center in Russia focused on constructing the platform of interdisciplinary interaction between contemporary art and science.
