The French Embassy, 'Blinds', 2024

‘CARTE VERTE’ group exhibition AT THE FRENCH EMBASSY, COPENHAGEN, 2024

"Blinds" is a site-specific installation created from recycled glass bottles sourced from the French Embassy in Copenhagen. It is part of the Carte Verte exhibition at Palais Thott, Copenhagen, hosted by the Institut Français and the French Embassy, and curated by Natalia Gutman. Photos by Davy Denke.

Seven French and Danish contemporary artists were invited to transform the French Embassy's magnificent 18th-century reception rooms, rich in artistic treasures like tapestries, Sèvres porcelain, and antique furniture.

The featured artists—Tiphaine Calmettes, Valentine Huyghues-Despointes, Nina K. Ekman, Maria Koshenkova, Edith Meusnier, Prune Nourry, and Charlotte Thrane—explore the green transition in Carte Verte.

Addressing overconsumption, global warming, ocean pollution, and climate change, they present both utopian and dystopian works made from recycled materials like old mattresses, yarn scraps, and glass bottles from Embassy events. This exhibition invites visitors to rediscover the Embassy, transformed by eye-catching, site-specific installations.
